Truth about wine

It’s no secret that we appreciate a darn good glass of wine. We are Italians, after all! We love sharing wine with friends and family over an awesome celebration or even just a small family gathering. But how does this factor into the wellbeing of your teeth? We know the truth about wine, and so we’ve compiled a few tips on how to enjoy a glass (or two) without sacrificing your dental health.

Pour Yourself a Glass of Antioxidants

There are some studies that have shown that drinking red wine can actually work in your favor when it comes to dental health. Red wine contains certain chemical components that have antioxidant properties – similar to those found in dark chocolate. These work to prevent the bacteria that causes tooth decay in the first place. If that’s not a good enough excuse to pass a glass to your friends and yourself, then we don’t know what is!

It Gets Better

While red wine can protect your teeth with its antioxidant properties, there are still SUPER easy precautions you can take to protect your teeth from staining.

Wine goes great with a lot of foods that are also great for your teeth. Pairing it with a nice cheese that’s rich in calcium and other great nutrients or even fresh apples can help rub your teeth clean with each bite you take.

It’s also recommended that you don’t brush your teeth immediately after drinking wine. Wait at least 30 minutes before giving them a good brushing, since the acidity of it can weaken your enamel a little bit.
